There is a setting in the Aurora config file to turn this off. It's in the json file. You will know when you see it.

This is not in the main aurora folder. The Global Settings.json that you are referring too is created when aurora is first opened. This is roughly in the %appdata%\Cheat Happens\Aurora area. This issue is with proton and HGL this is created in the Wine Prefixes folder that is created on a per game basis. It would need to be a setting in the main aurora folder to make it so we would not need to configure it for every game manually so changing the setting in that json could help if you cannot get it to load fully to get to options to toggle it off, but we would still have to change this setting for every single game.

I guess I am just not understanding the issue. You said you wanted an option in a text file so that Aurora always starts with hardware acceleration turned off. That is exactly what the "EnableHardwareAcceleration": false, line in the Global Settings.json file does.

Are you saying that on the Steam Deck this .json file gets created in a different folder per game?

You can turn off hardware acceleration by launching Aurora with the "-nodx" parameter, without the double quotes obviously.

Yes with the steam deck and linux this is placed in the Wine Prefix folder(the stand in for C: on windows computers) which a new folder that is created for every game during first launch with proton. Since this is created for every game you have to setup aurora for every game since the settings for Aurora is saved in the user section of windows computers and not in the Aurora main folder which is the only part that does not get recreated for each game.

    ~/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common
    Contains the games
    ~/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata
    Contains the Wine Prefixes

Steam also does not label the prefixes with the name of the game they go with but with a number instead so it can sometimes take time to locate the correct one. HGL labels them with the game name so easy to locate.

Sadly the launch parameter I have been unable to find a way to use with HGL(aka Epic) though it should work with Steam Tinker so I will test it there.

The "-nodx" parameter is able to added in Steam Tinker and this helps. I still have not found anyway to add this parameter in HGL, but this is a good start.

Any chance you found a way to fix this? I have tried different proton versions with no luck , everything else works great.
