Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts Discussion
one piece of info that i neglected to let u know is that i'm also using a CH trainer..at the same time. will it imapact using the mod?
I can already see that your shortcut has the incorrect formatting for 2.301 and prior versions of the game, and is noted as such in the different version's instruction files.
-modname Ewiger_Krieg -dev
is what you should be using, if you use the later, -mod format which is designed for 2.400 and later only, then it simply won't work because the game can't reconcile the order you're giving it, so it simply won't be performed.
Satisfy all your obsessive compulsive urges with Direct Fire mode on all armored vehicles!
It is not 100% tested, but using Wehrmacht and Americans things worked fine, presumably the other factions will as well.
To use Direct Fire mode on all armored vehicles, either click the icon or tap the "D" hot key. Some units have abilities that occupy slot nine of the load out, so for them please just use the "D" key. Also, in order to remedy a conflict with Commonwealth tanks "Hull Down" ability (which also uses the D hot key), I have reassigned that ability to the V key. The icon WILL note this, and I feel it works better all-in-all since it looks like an arrow pointing downward.
Direct Fire is incredibly powerful for putting shells on target, so don't be surprised by vastly improved performance unit for unit. Other tanks, particularly the Crocodile varieties have been left with their flamethrowers as the Direct Fire gun, and while previously I had said their cannons should be the DF gun, that would also make them little more than a regular Sherman/Churchill in that case, so I thought it actually counter productive to enter direct fire mode when it would turn off the one thing that made them different/special. Calliope's I consider the exception since their rocket launchers aren't for direct combat but artillery sake, thus the turret should therefore fire as usual, and their artillery capability is an activated ability anyway.
This update was a big one, but I think a huge improvement on the options and possibilities in EW. As always, enjoy and like the saying goes, if you want something blown up right you have to do it yourself
ehm, i have same problem as above, i extract the mod to my COH folder, E:/PC Games/Company of heroes
i followed your instruction on readme, make a shortcut and add
"-mod Ewiger_Krieg -dev" to target box.
when i click the shortcut it just wait 3 second and nothing happens.
is there anything i should know about the mod? please reply this post if you know what's wrong. cause i just want to play this mod..
if there already an explanation about this issue, you can tell me the link. arghhh i'm desperate.

Unpack the appropriate folder for your version of the game, and copy/paste everything in it to your Company of Heroes folder. For 2.500 and beyond it is especially important that you have all of the .module files there as they are critical now.
Read all instructions very carefully, even multiple times if necessary, and don't skip even the smallest part or step, because every bit is important to heed.
Edit: Additional info from the .txt file packed in with the mod
Place the following files in your Company of Heroes main folder, by default it will be C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes
Once those files are in your Company of Heroes main folder, right click the RelicCOH.exe in that same folder and choose
"Send to -> Desktop (Create Shortcut)"
Look on your desktop, and right click on the Shortcut you just made, and choose Properties.
Within the menu the top most entry box is called "Target" and will have the program path inside it to your RelicCOH.exe
In that blank you must add to the end ONE SPACE, and paste in the following:
-mod Ewiger_Krieg -dev
If you installed the game to the default C:\ drive, the path will look like this, and you can copy/paste the entire entry as:
"C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes\RelicCOH.exe" -mod Ewiger_Krieg -dev
Please note that the command line function has changed from -modname to just -mod as of 2.400 you must name your shortcut as such because the old
way just doesn't cut it anymore. It's a very minor change for the end user all-in-all.
Once entered, click Apply, OK, and you're ready! To start the game, just use the new shortcut you've made with the added mod command.

I wrote those steps as a methodical demonstration of the steps I took, no matter how small, for installing the mod. It was written as I did each thing and I've tried to lay it out as linear as I could, so that 'this' leads to 'this' and goes to 'this', and so on until you're done.
I believe there have been an awful lot of people having difficulty installing the mod lately because there may be some misunderstanding in the instructions.
The two leading culprits are the unpacking then placing of the files into the Company of Heroes folder, and the second is the difficulty with the new shortcut target line formatting.
Both of these however are directly addressed in the instructions file, and you are welcome to copy the shortcut command line and paste it into your own shortcut, just remember the space as mentioned in the instructions.
