Being a "stand-in" for DFHack isn't exactly a bad thing, it's like being stunt double for Bruce Lee, DFHack has had *years* to develop its many features. In the many months it's going to take for DFHack to be functional for the current version of DF, this is going to drive some good traffic this way.
I was also hoping to see a skill/attributes editor, but I see it's not included, darnit. It's going to be very useful having this around nonetheless. Appreciate your work, Caliber, thank you.
Edit: I was hoping the "Trait" options would act on attributes but beyond being pretty obscure over what it does the values can't seem to stick. I submitted a request for an Attribute/Skill editor through the proper channels. If you're also interested, keep an eye out in the following days when (and if) it's finally able to be voted on.

I did the best I could with it. NO idea why it wouldn't 'stick' as you modify the values and that is what determines what the traits are.
If this isnt working or isn't "proper" or isn't useful, let me know and I will remove it.
PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE THIS GAME TRAINER OF LIVE MEMORY VALUES IN THIS COMPLEX GAME WITH A SAVE GAME OR FILE EDITOR OR THE DFHACK PROGRAM.
I actually debated whether to even start this, due to the complex and annoying nature of the game, and the fact it will be updating 1000 times a year for infinity.
If it's not useful or there is too may game diehards who used some other program the last 20 years who want this to be THAT, it isn't that, won't be that, we don't have time to make it that, and I am likely to just retire this.
Note that if someone else wants to join our team and create some sort of "proper" whatever you think it should be, and support it for the next 20 years, and have all the same stuff as DFHACK and whatnot, then contact PWizard and maybe we can work something out.
This game had LONG AGO been retired and cancelled, for all the above reasons. Due to the new graphic update, we decided to put something out, which wasn't very easy to make for a game this complex. If it's not appreciated or is rife with complaints, the trainer will be retired and closed and people can wait for something more like what they had with the DFHACK editor or whatever.

Cal
This reply feels unnecessarily hostile for no reason. I came here to give thanks and a heads up on some things I ran into while using it, and instead get mocked. I apologize for the terms I used being taken the wrong way, but then I could take this reaction as you assuming this trainer will be comparable to DFHacks on its full release. If that is the case, then I am happy and look forward to further updates, I'd likely use both this trainer and DFHacks side by side regardless.
Just an edit: Someone else literally shared a similar sentiment a few posts prior to mine. Without DFHacks there are things we just straight up, can't do. Even with this trainer, without DFHacks, there are things we just can't do, but it allows some workarounds.
I was giving props where it was obviously due. I'm sorry being compared to one of the best tools for pre-steam Dwarf Fortress is seen as a downplay or insult, but it wasn't meant to be. I'm also sorry being a stand-in for that same great tool is also seen as an insult, but again, it wasn't meant to be. I'm not a DF gatekeeper, I won't assume you haven't played Dwarf Fortress pre-steam, with or without DFHacks. Again, if I am to take this response as a sign that you believe through updates this trainer will eventually be on par with DFHacks, then good. That would give us two great tools that do similar things, but are offered from different sources. Again, I apologize, but still feel this response was unnecessarily defensive. I get you hold your trainer creators in high regard and I'm sorry that with my terms it didn't seem like I was too.

Sorry you felt mocked, and apologies for that. Just understand we spend 6-7 hours on this dink, "specialized" group of fans type game, only to get pages telling us that our work sucks and isn't DFHACK.
Well, it ISNT DFHACK, and it's never going to be.
I did the best I could with it, and remember that there is NOT MANY of us coding trainers here, with me doing the vast majority of the work here. So we don't have infinite time to spend on one game, and certainly there is going to be a lot of changes and updates to this game, so it may be that we retire this if it gets to crazy or there are too many complaints.
Apologies if you felt disrespected or mocked. It comes from an honest place here where often we are more reactive than we should be due to what seems to be a lack of appreciation for the work we do sometimes. Note that this trainer was retired like 10 years ago or something, and likely for the same reasons (doesn't have this or that, isn't DFHACK, I wanted something else, etc.) but note that there are ZERO trainers out for it since, and honestly NONE out now. And that is because the game is nuts to work on and is likely to be a gigantic pain even with what appears to be a smallish number of options.
Note the Super Dwarves option alone is trying to fix MANY THINGS that could be needed or wrong with your dwarves... 16 to be exact (like blood loss, hunger, injured, etc.)
all of those offsets could easily change EVERY PATCH, requiring ridiculous amount of trace work to get them all updated.
Thanks for your membership, apologies for making you feel mocked, and I hope that you will find some use for this, as it took a lot of work to do.
If this IS useful and there is a community looking for something to help with this game while they wait for some sort of uber editor/hack for it, then spread the word and bring them here.
best,
Cal
Seriously? There really is no reason to be so juvenile. You guys want real money so act like real business owners and stop treating your clients like this. There was nothing wrong with what he said. He gave props for the trainer and was respectful of the effort put into creating it. PWizard's response is like being mad that there are two brands of tortilla chips. Jeez... this is not the first time I've had to call out stuff like this.
As for his point, I can confirm that the edit stocks amount does not split on item use. 1 Marble edited to 25 ---> used for blocks = 4 blocks (same as 1 marble).
Like Coleblah I am glad for the trainer and thankful to have it. I hope that too is not taken as some kind of insult.
Edit: Thank you Cal for explaining but I think the issue is that PWizard lashed out against someone who never once said it wasn't useful or helpful. It is. I know that I use super Dwarves option to great effect. Just because 1 option ain't perfect... it's not the end of the world. Some of the community gets that, some whiney little cry babies won't... ever. So the point is don't let the whiners and complainers (who will always whine and complain) guide the responses to your supporters.

Noted. Now I'm being schooled on MY OWN WEBSITE.

Game already patched at least once.
Can you test SAVE game, then LOAD and see if the stocks show the edited number then try that and see if it sorta sticks better? I have no idea how it's stored if this isn't the correct way... If that still doesn't work, then likely remove the stocks option, thx.
