IMPORTANT:
As of Aurora v1.7.0, it is necessary to use the (currently experimental) Proton version 8 or higher (not shown in latest video).
Here is a quick guide:
Step 1: Update protonupqt
Step 2: launch it and remove steamtinker without removing the options you saved (it will prompt a message choose dont delete) and the proton version you have installed.
Step 3: install latest steamtinker and proton stable version
Step 4: in the steamtinker game menu under proton version choose: proton 8.0-1d
Repeat step 4 for all of the games.
All should be fine now.

I've done this, but now my issue is that when I run the game I'm trying to play (mass effect LE) with steam tinker launch it only loads aurora, but the game isn't under it so it can't detect the game or activate trainer
EDIT: Think I figured it out, it was some weird EA app shenanigans. Launched it without stl and let it do its thing, then switched back and it seems to work now.

Hey there. For specific games that followed the basic setup of getting the correct settings in place for first launch aurora in game before logging in / going in settings /etc, once launched with any proton whether its 8-1 or 8-2 the second window that is for Aurora freezes. So far this error has occurred on No Mans Sky when it loads aurora but it auto switches to NMS and im trying to figure out what other games this issue has occurred with.
So follow up to this. So far with No mans Sky it wants to launch Aurora first and then the game causing aurora to freeze entirely regardless of the version of proton ( regular 8 from the store, GE or experimental). I honestly dont know how to fix it to where it launches Aurora after NMS so that the proper steps can take place. I have not encountered another game with this issue yet and even messing around with a delayed injection over the fork command option did nothing.
Anyone had problem using aurora in RE 4 remake? I followed every step (updating proton-QT, etc) but everytime i opened the game it had “gpu driver not compatible” message. But when i opened it normally (without using steamthinker) it runs smoothly
Please help, i can’t figure it out yet
Confirmed working with Heroic Games Launcher. Process is very straightforward.
1.) Click the gear button on the specific game you want to run with Aurora to be brought to the game's settings, and then on the left in the Other tab is a section for environment variables.
2.) Set the environment variable PROTON_USE_WINED3D with a value of 1 to allow Aurora to function.
3.) Launch game through HGL.
4.) To run Aurora, click the gear button on the specific game and at the bottom of the Wine tab is a button to "Run EXE on Prefix". Click this and select the Aurora executable.
5.) Login, disable hardware acceleration and the process watcher in Aurora settings.
Afterwards, close both the game and Aurora and then remove that environment variable, and you should be good to go.
It may be possible to launch Aurora automatically on game launch through some other config, but I don't know how that would be done myself, so until then, running Aurora is something you'll have to do manually each time you launch the game.
I'd also like to mention this was all done in desktop mode, I know it's possible to add HGL games to Steam to launch in game mode but I don't run them that way and don't know how this configuration might be done for game mode.
