We do, the US Navy Seals and British SAS are the current day ODST's. In fact the ODST's are based on those military divisions.
IGN analyzed the Reach trailer from E3, there isn't much that a real Halo fan doesn't already know or has a hunch about, but there is one thing that I would bet a million dollars that no one noticed.

You can't do that if we don't have a space navy. And we don't have a space navy because we only live on one planet. The Seals and SAS do drop you of helicopters and cargo planes though.
