Saints Row two is to Grand Theft Auto four what Wii is to Sony Playstation 3.

Yeah? Care to explain that? Or are you just a fanboi? (I think probably the latter.)

Look, there's no point coming to the SR2 boards and going "Such-and-such game other than SR2 is the best" in ANY form... you're just trying to get something started. Now please, let's demonstrate a little, just a little maturity (I know it's tough..) and NOT try to start a flame-war over which game is better. I'm open to DISCUSSION, but that requires POINTS to back up your OPINION.

    Unwinding is the mortal coil,
that drives the gears to tick and toil,
until at last, it rests, unwound,
and we lay silent in the ground.

I played GTA IV on the PS3 and beat it. Sure I enjoyed it, it was fun, and I really liked the driving physics. But... It just didn't feel like GTA. Since the tool over there can use a simile, I guess I will too.
GTA IV is to the GTA series as Crysis is to first person shooters.

    All graphics, no substance.

Saints Row 2, with all the customization, the incredibly fun and partially destructible environment, all of the wacky "secret areas" and unlockables... It is just fun. Just... Pure fun.

I'm glad I sold my PS3 and GTA IV, they're NOTHING compared to Saints Row 2.
Hell, they are hardly even comparable at all.

I mean, jeeze, I stopped at a red light in-game and I heard a black guy in the truck next to me say "I'm going to go home and tell my kids I never loved them." and then he drives off. What the hell? I love it. I couldn't stop laughing.
You haven't truely enjoyed a video game until you've had your character start singing along in Saints Row 2, either.
    Just a beautiful game.
    And I don't mean visually, you shallow-minded scene-kids.

I'm not one to brag about my financial skills, but my credit card company calls me almost every day to tell me my balance is outstanding.

IMO the only way SR2 fails in comparison for game-play is the fact that in GTAIV ANY pistol shot to the face/head will 1-shot an enemy unless they're wearing a helmet (E.G.: SWAT guys) where in SR2 the crappy pistol won't kill with a single head-shot.

Carjackings: are comparable... practically the same

Car handling: better in GTAIV, but not good in either game

Main Story: WAY better in SR2

Distractions/Activities: In SR2 these are side-games... that give you bonuses.. in GTAIV these are your "friends" calling you every 10 minutes wanting you to waste time hanging out with them for absolutely no gain or reward.

Graphics: Still looks OK in SR2, a little dated but that's all... GTAIV is prettier, but so unoptimized you've gotta have an $8,000 Alien-Ware rig to run it on Medium-High settings.

Weapons: SR2 has MORE of them... especially melee weapons... GTAIV has a knife... and a bat.. and what? Plus Hand-To-Hand is better in SR2 'cause you have combos with their own special camera, and 4 different melee styles (that I found).

Missions: GTAIV has a bunch more contacts allowing for a LOT more missions total. However it's less sandbox than SR2 because the contacts get unlocked as you move forward in the story. Once you complete the prologue in SR2 all the mission lines are available with the exception of Ultor.

I could continue but I feel like I've made a pretty good point. All in all I feel SR2 is just a better game. Just my opinion, but I will fight fiercly against general comments like "GTAIV is better." I feel if someone wants to say that 1 game of a genre is better than another of the same, they should offer up reasons why.

lol i got a pc that costs about idk 700$ and it plays gta 4 on high

I've played a bit of GTAIV. I can't give a complete opinion about it, but I did notice one thing: I really wasn't having very much fun. It really isn't an impressive game. Any other GTA, I would be running around and blowing stuff up and wrecking my car. I would be having a blast. For some reason, I feel almost like GTAIV's gameplay punishes you for going crazy like that. GTAIV looks good, but the main character is ugly. I mean...really ugly. The story is unimaginative and boring. There's barely any customization, aside from buying clothes.

SR2, on the other hand, I feel like I can go as crazy as I want and it's fun as hell to do it. The customization is great in this game. You start off by making the character the way you want it. You can further customize as the game goes on with new clothes, tattoos, and more fighting styles. The game has a wonderful selection of weapons and you don't lose them when you get killed. The story is very well written too. There's only a few things that suck about the game. One thing is that it was poorly ported to PC. Another thing is the stuck in building bug. I got that bug once and I tried for a long time to get out and finally realized it was impossible.

Aside from the poor optimization and the stuck in building bug, I found SR2 to be both satisfying and addicting. GTAIV has gotten a bit too comfortable and has gotten flat and boring. I hope Rockstar was paying attention to SR2 because they could learn a thing or two from it for GTAV.

i don't know how gta 4 is, but i do know that the driving physics are so worse...than even street racing syndicate has better driving physics...and yes, it does...because i played both of them and i know why i'm comparing these two...if those guys at thq and volition would release a patch to improve the driving physics of the car than that would be a major upgrade for the game

really now...i barely can keep the car on the road...and IMPOSSIBLE for me to do anything related to driving cars...maybe i could fix it by using a controller or something rather than a keyboard, but...who's gonna pay for that controller? i barely managed to get my junk of a pc so i can play something decent, and to think to make my pc the ultimate gaming weapon? nah...to much to do...and it isn't giving who knows what benefit...because after a few years games will need for medium graphics a 2gb video card (don't know whether this will be true or not but it can be possible)
