Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts Discussion
Trainer Tools and Resources
Its free and you can open the mod with this and extract it to your C:\Program Files:\THQ\Company of Heroes.
Hope that hooks you up.
Indeed, thanks GhostRider, it's been many months since I've made mention of the archive method and reasoning for it...
For those that may not know .RAR is an archive file similar to .ZIP, and while .ZIP is the default compression for Windows file archiving, it's also not particularly popular among many file sharers (in the good sense of the phrase, not the illicit).
As such, .RAR is seen as the happy medium by many and while it does necessitate a separate program to open, if you're into modding for instance, then it's practically a requirement. If you download enough things you'll quickly see a trend toward .RAR and even .7z (which WinRAR can also open) and a nearly unspoken boycott of .ZIP.
Anyway, it's a much more versatile as well as efficient program, widely used, and it's free to use. For one stop convenience, WinRAR covers all the most common archiving methods nicely, it's fast, small, and does what you want it to do with out asking you to confirm it fifty times and covering your screen in prompts telling you about what you told the computer to do, as if you had forgotten in the fraction of a second since your last click.
I think I'm ready to at least openly acknowledge that I am actively working on making all tanks in the game Direct Fire (DF) functional. I've made great strides and am nearly complete with the German factions (Wehrmacht and Panzer Elite) as of this posting.
I've tweaked some things and made them work, and so far it's quite promising. Some units, like the King Tiger for instance, won't have the Direct Fire icon appear since their pre-existing abilities cover up slot 9 in the abilities box. Rather than reinvent the wheel to make it appear, one need only tap the "D" key to engage direct fire mode.
Other things like the Hummel are completely unleashed chaos in a conveniently sized package that fits into most overhead storage bins. Set them to lock down mode, right click to line them up, and anything that is under your left clicked mouse cursor is soon to not be there any more... Incredible accuracy coupled with exceedingly powerful weaponry make for an overwhelmingly powerful combination.
Now while I've made great progress, some things are a bit fiddly at the moment. Hetzers are functional with DF mode, but won't fire their main gun, so I'm looking into that and a few other units to remedy that. Other things that don't have a primary "big" gun, simply won't have any direct fire functionality other than movement commands (some half tracks, one of the scout cars, etc.)
Plans for infantry DF are loosely scheduled but it will take time, and at the moment I'm laser-focused on working on the armor. Allies may well take some time to complete and finally release a usable product because I fear combination units like Calliope Shermans, Crocodile Sherman/Churchill, and some others may not use their cannons, or that their flamethrowers will be given preference. In my mind, the cannon should be the direct fire weapon and any secondaries like machine guns, flame throwers, and so forth should be left to the AI, so that's the over-all approach I'm taking. One exception to this of course is the flammenwerfer half track (which already works fine) and that's because the flame thrower is its -only- weapon choice.
I honestly can't give a time-table for when it will be released, so I must ask for your continued patience, but I think the final product will be worth the wait because many units that used to be blah are now quite interesting and fun with the added wrinkle of DF mode.

Keep up the great work
Indeed I'm of a similar mindset myself... The star of the show in CoH is your armor, even in mixed platoons...
That being said, there are ways to make infantry DF functional, and while it won't be in the initial release, it may well come about in the long run just because it does make your units much more effective and reliable.
Well that is true DF on infantry does make them more usely I guess it would be good to have the button sitting there just incase your infantry, CAN'T HIT A TANK, lol sorry I just got owned by a expert computer on the blitzkrieg mod
I'd also like to see an end to the mortar spam of the AI, annoying the crap out of me.
Does anyone know of an attribute editor for CoH Tales of Valor? I want to increase damage of vehicles and infantry and stuff, anyone know of one I can get?

As far as a direct attribute editor, you're not likely to find one as true modding is what is pretty much required to do that...
Mortar spam is merely an AI routine, so short of the AI settings being different then there is little that can be done.
As to weapon accuracy, I have no intention of altering the units stats beyond the annoying discrepancy between the M1917 and M1919, which has long since been addressed...
When the DF mode enabled Ewiger Krieg is released, they will be incredibly accurate, as would all DF commanded armor.
Also, the Tiger (more specifically the 8.8cm KwK36 gun) had nowhere near a 100% accuracy rating, and while it could fire in excess of 2,000m its accuracy at that range (in a combat situation) was 50% at best, and that's versus a 2.5m x 2m sized target. It is pretty much a limit of feasibility and practicality that engagement range was within 1,500m to be effective and reliable.
