The game looks cool but I say the best 'Horror genre' game is The Suffering series...those games will freak you out guaranteed, the first moreso than the second

the darkness is not a horror game it has some elements that horror has but it more so just a shooter in which you can make monsters pick up cars with tentacles and turn into some snake/awesome lizard thing. It also happens to be based on my favorite comic book series ever.

I really liked Dead Rising. It's one of those games where once you get the hang of it there is a crap load to do. The Darkness also looks awesome, based off the comic book series. Going around online smacking people up with tentacles should be fun.
Oh BTW darkish, you can just try out the free demo on the marketplace and see how you like it for yourself. I didn't really like the demo and I loved the game...so if you like the demo chances are you'll really love the game.
