Maybe you're right...maybe. IF it is a misunderstanding on my part I apologize, but the way it was written certainly seems to imply that he does pirate software and is not just complaining about DRM; which by itself is understandable.

I was referring to "we might as well as hand our desktop/laptop to the government and tell them we have pirated games on it."
Personally I don't have any pirated games on my system, therefore I certainly wouldn't have said that. The only reason I can think that someone would phrase it like that is if they had pirated games on their system. I don't care what people have on their own systems, I was only pointing out the wiseness, or lack thereof - of the statement, especially in comparison to what the complaint was in the first place.

It's the sentence before it "Why do we even need steam?" It goes back to the business philosophy to simply assume that everyone is a pirate and DRM that takes more control away from the player is required. It does protect their games, but it leaves an extremely sour taste with consumers.

Make no mistake, what GameStop did was wrong. New games that are opened should be discounted as an "open product" with its own return policy. Voicing your discontent with the business will ensure that they adopt better practices. Would you pay for a luke-warm, over-seasoned, and poorly cooked meal at a restaraunt; and then only smile at the waiter and tell him/her it was delicious before paying in full? Loose analogy I know, but at least GameStop is acknowledging their wrong-doing by providing gift cards to those that purchased the game from them; however this amends they offer is not widely broadcasted.
Life is not short. Living is the longest thing that anyone ever does.
