I am on Windows 7, it didn't create the backups, though it wasn't necessary, since I completed the game a few minutes ago with the improved textures, again thanks.

Thank you. My only other problem with this game is the sound is incredibly low volume and I need to crank my sound up to the maximum to hear it properly. Every other game I only need to turn the sound in my speakers up to 35% to hear them properly.

Which blows if I want to take a screenshot with Xfire, or someone logs in or off on Xfire, my brother even compared the sound to a nuke going off

Two helps for the sound issue have been suggested elsewhere.

1)If you are running Windows 7, go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound -> Communications(tab)-> select the "Do nothing" radio button.

2)Also while running the game, tab out and go to the speaker icon in the lower right of the task bar. There will be a slider setting for Singularity. Adjust it upward if its too low.

This helped even the sound level for me between gunshots and effect and voices and increased the overall level.
