Got the G4M Betty bomber hurling 16 bombs at a time every 5 seconds. The G3M Nell and B5N Kate hurls torpedoes like spit-wads, and of course the ever popular D3A Val drops singles like it's got a hole in its pocket now
Going to start tinkering around with ranges, the pathetic default ranges are an insult to the ships they are supposed to represent (For heaven's sake .50 Cal AA guns were capable of doing in a plane over a mile out! 500m isn't even even a third of that...) Larger guns like those of the battleships could literally fire over the horizon, hence the spotting planes to target and relay coordinates to the mother ship.
After tripling the ranges of artillery, both ship and land based, I've also unlocked all the units in the game that would otherwise take certain conditions or achievements to acquire...
Sure it's a bit underhanded, but keep in mind I didn't do it until getting straight golds and unlocking everything single player had to offer through campaign play...
The Kikka (it was actually the Nakajima J9Y, nicknamed the Kikka) and P80 in particular are quite fun
Oh, and Ohka carriers (and especially Ohkas themselves) are some of the most fun and obscenely cool weapons I've played with yet! Best of all, you can keep the bomber miles away, completely safe from any real reprisal, and unload a devastating barrage.

Find the in-game unit you want to edit, the more specific the better, like the B5N Kate for instance, and you can find it in the various files, and edit the reload speed.
For things like range, unlocks, and so forth that's in the other miscellaneous files but easily edited with a proper text editor once you know how to unpack and repack the files properly using the unpacking program, also easily attained in the link.
I will give you forewarning, modding isn't necessarily hard, but it does require patience and often has a steep learning curve until the light bulb flashes on... Be patient and persistent to get the results you want.
More than anything, back everything up, multiple times if anything, and ALWAYS BEFORE YOU EDIT!!! Two seconds backing your files up can save you hours of headaches, fixes, and re-installs.
Edit at your own risk as always, and I of course am not responsible for your escapades, but good luck just the same, and backup everything along the way
wow 16 bomb every 5 sec. now that's what i'm talking about..
