I'm going to play through the TG questline now and see if I can find what you're talking about. If I recall correctly you don't need a key for that door, but you seem adamant about it. Just check around the room that the door is in- check all the coffers, reliquaries, corpses-- everything.

Ok thats odd, you dont need a key to open that door because it opens itself when you fire the arrow at the statue.

I suggest you reload a previous save because that quest has glitched on you.

C thats the thing. I thought that i forgot the key so i went back out to find it and have saved quite a few times since. So i cant just go back. Unless u no of another way.

Do you have any backup saves that are before this quest started?

If not, you're screwed. Use this as a lesson to always have a backup save. Try to save the backup when you are NOT in any quest, this way if there was a glitch you won't be permanently stuck. I usually save backups at the beginning of each guild questline, every five or so quests in the Main Quest, and every two level ups.

If I am not mistaken, one problem you might be facing is an old game bug. Try updating your game if it is not already. It will repair any bugs or glitches in the game including the duplication glitch, horse glitch, thief bug, ect. It should fix your glitch as well but Im not positive. One thing Im also not sure about is that Gray Fox might have given you a key. I haven't done the quest for some time but Im think he gives you a key to open doors inside the castle. You might not have received the key and you might need to pickpocket it from him if you don't have it. But once again, Im not quite certain. If not of that works then as Ho-Oh said... you're screwed.
