    what version of the game are you using

    game version -> trainer version
    1.00 -> 1.00
    1.01 -> 1.1
    1.02 -> 1.2

    using the wrong trainer with your version can cause "major" problems

    also if you are using a "patched" executable this could happen...quite easily (unless the programers released a trainer that worked with that "patched" version)

    first off you should check through the trainer troubleshooting guide.Link
    there are many things that could cause the trainer to not work right and the guide covers most of them.

    also, the best way i have found to check what version your game is is to check the main game executable. if you have a shortcut to the game, right click it and select properties. in the target line it will show you where the executable is and it's name. when you find the executable (in this case, sporeapp.exe) right click it and select properties. in the properties window select the "version" tab and the "file version" line tells you what version your game has been patched to.

    sounds a bit complicated huh? once you do it a few times its not so hard.

    (on a side note)
    the thing is, most games in the past would display their version numbers in the game's main menu, usually in one of the corners of the screen. sadly, many of the more recent games no longer use this simple courtesy. just a small, petty thing, but still one of many things game companies are doing these days that seem to show that they are becoming less and less considerate of their customers. perhaps a bit of paranoia, hopefully me reading to much into it, but...

    i like not the way these winds are blowing...
    Power does not corrupt, corruption comes from within.
