So followed the instrictions for the permament fix, but when I repacked the package all the text in my game was converted to ***.

Does anyone know how to resolve this?

BTW, kudos to TC for solving the biggest problem with spore (aside from the lack of content)

Yeah I saw that, thanks though.
So My changes worked great, I loaded my game np. But when I changed back to the original game package I still had '***' in place of nearly all text. Specificly menu items and anything other than planet/star names. Any idea what I did wrong?

Edit- Nevermid. Just reinstalled, and replaced the game package with mine and everything is good.

    Version 0.21 is broken.
Use V0.22 (at the same link www.customsims3.com/forum1/wbin/SpViewDL.html). Since your install was successful, you only need the update package, which is much smaller.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but I broke the decompression when I made the V0.21 update (the first post-game-release version).

Yep that was the problem and I was able to edit the file correctly. However after repackaging it, the changes doesn't seem to be doing anything, did anyone else get it to work? Did anyone do anything other than the steps outlined already?

    I got it to work.

However, and I would appreciate some help on this, when I repackage my spore_game.package I get doubles of all my creature options (parts and skins).

I have some kind of c++ on my system (don't remember which version) but spview seems to run fine. I have a 32-bit OS and the link provided on spview's page was only to 64 bit versions so I could not install sp1, couldn't find it after a brief seaerch. But since spview ran and performed all funstions I think my problem lies elswhere.

Please, I am this close to actually enjoying this game.

Dont repack the Spore_Game.package! Just pack new your package (for example mod.package). This works fine for me.

Ive modified my data as others have and not once have i seen a change, i just cant believe you people when you say "it works"

Raids still happen constantly, Grox attack just as frequent as ever. What are you changing besides the previous given lines?

sorry if i sound rude but the game is irritating now that ive got the level 3 stellar engine and the grox have decided its time to attack...again. And there isnt a good way to tell if modifying these lines is working! The data may be overwritten somewhere else in a quick fix or something that we just do not know about, heck the info may be hard coded so it cant change.
