No no, you can save all over the mall.
There is a save point in every toilet, male and female. The gym in Al Fresca plaza also has a save point, the yellow door.
There's also some random save points in other stores dotted about, the map should clear that up. Although there is only one saved game slot, which basically ruins it.

is it just me or does the saving in this game suck? i truly wish there was an autosave feature when you reach a cut scene. i find myself getting ticked off when i die and have to start all over.
tell me about it i wanted to throw something i got so ****ed because i was really far then one of the chick that look like thier giving you head as they attack kills me...a nice yet way to die
