As for the pitfall traps and Lao, it doesnt work. But Im not entirely sure.
Nah, I'm sure, the game isn't too specific, it would be cool if you set 4 off and he got his legs stuck...but no, it doesn't work. Like, let's say you're in area 3 in FnF, if you run to the end of the cliff, your person doesn't fall down the cliff . The game isn't detailed much, but still is very good!

Such as the time MH told us the time a rathalos out of thin air grabbed some randome v-prey and flew off with it talk about weird
Yeah, that was quite odd, but I think the oddest things happen are online! Let's say Me and my Mate are on a Vprey hunt, I hit a Vprey right next to me, and the one next to my mate goes flying and dies as if I'd hit it when I'm miles away!!!
Another is, if I'm online with my mate again, we fighting Rathalos, I only just walk into the area, I see Rathalos in the air and he suddenly lands really fast like if he teleported 😵
