Well I suppose it wouldn't sound as crazy if it didn't come from a movie.

If it was a religion practiced a long long long time ago, you could possibly attach it to Satanism or Paganism.

Jedi is more a philosophy than a religion, and I do agree with the controlling emotions and remaining calm at all times part. Alot of people could learn from that instead of exploding like a grenade hit with a jackhammer during an earthquake at the tiniest little thing. However in the movies Jedi tend to be complete prats, choosing to sit on the fence rather than help all the goddamn time. So....Sith it is! You can be a good Sith, right?

people have a misconception of the sith though
they think sith are evil...which is true in some cases, but the sith philosiphy is based on freedom, not evil

I'm not a major fan of star wars (I like a few of the games) but I'm gonna go ahead and go all geeky-philosophical on you. I always saw the Jedi vs Sith thing as like a struggle between the ID and Superego or mind and nature. One believes in absolute morality, mind over emotions, complete control, living in harmony...whilst the other believes in power, only the fittest have the right to survive, emotions generate strength ect..

I kinda saw the Sith as a cross between ancient Sparta and natural selection, a culture who's purpose is for the most powerful to rise to the top and keep it strong.

well the sith originated from the opposition of the jedi code...the belief that a force user shouldn't limit the way they use their powers because of a code....ok im just going to stop now! because i will go on for ever about this if somebody doesnt shut me up. thanx DR

as u can tell, i am somewhat of a sw fan

haha, yea i wrote that on my census form, but im not Australian. Me and some mates got as many people as we could to do it, and if we got 10,000 or something then they'd have to put it on the next census as a box to tick
    so yea, just a laugh.
however, the books and movies etc with all the Jedi stuff do make some good points and the Jedi's way of life (avoiding unnecessary confrontation etc) is not bad :P
