Posted a thread about six months ago, but it was closed with no resolution.

The same problem still exists. When using Aurora, it prevents the 'auto-switch' function of integrated to discrete GPU in laptops.

Optimus reports that the display mode cannot be switched due to Aurora.

Optimus has been around since 7xx series of GPUs. It's not new.

It could be that no one actually capable of fixing it has the ability to use/test it.

    Thanks for the replies.

Optimus is on EVERY laptop that has an IGP and a Nvidia GPU. It's part of the Nvidia driver package and is a select-able option in the Nvidia control panel.

I attached a zip file of screen shots showing nvidia control panel, driver version, optimus part of nvidia control panel and the error message I get when using Aurora. If I can capture logs somehow, I'll be happy to do it.

Right now the work around is to manually switch to the nvidia gpu, then launch aurora and then the game.

Can you switch the GPU when you have a GAME running in background or do you get the same error message?

No, you cannot switch while a game is running.

I no longer have a laptop that has the Optimus feature, but I know when I did I had the option to set which GPU runs which programs. If this is still supported (which I can't imagine it NOT being supported) you should be able to set your GPU to always use discrete while you game and then flip it back. More than likely the feature is seeing that Aurora does not require the discrete card to run and pushes it to the onboard intel instead.

Windows 10 moved the app-by-app GPU selection from the Nvidia control panel to Windows settings. It's a native function now.

I did add an exception to the list for Aurora. It's now marked for 'High Performance - Nvidia GPU'.

The setting can be found in Windows settings > System > Display > Graphics. I am on Windows 11, btw.

After multiple gaming sessions, I can report that the manual entry has resolved the issue.
