It appears the new patch breaks the function that updates the player's location in the game when combined with the trainer. If trainer is activated next to a flame, it still acts like you are next to the flame, even after moving away. Same with NPCs. Fast travel no longer works. The various trainer options seem to work, however, like unlimited quickslot. If the trainer is force-quit, interactions are still possible, but go away again once the trainer is reactivated in the same way(as if the player's location is locked). This could conceivably be used as a workaround in the meantime while awaiting a trainer update - just turn it off when you need to interact with the NPCs?
Please use the update notification system to report a game patch, update or to report that the trainer may not be working with the latest version of the game. If 3 or more reports have been filed, consider BOOSTING the priority of this title for a faster turnaround on the updated trainer.

It is updating too quickly. This latest trainer worked for 1 day before they updated and it stopped working. It was suggested they retire the trqainer for a month or so until the first wave of updates to this game settle in. That is probably the way to go. Otherwise the createoras are gonna be worked to death and the users will be frustrated.
Stop saying "retired" you mean on hold.

The previous trainer worked with all the previous updates, so it is not working anyone 'to death'
