Sounds like you are not using our launcher that comes with the trainer to disable the anti-cheats. I just tried the latest trainer with latest STEAM version, in OFFLINE MODE, and it worked perfectly as shown in this video:

This is the first trainer I've used that required the use of something like that, not that it's a great excuse. Thanks for the help! Loading the game with that launcher fixes all of my problems.

I've placed the launcher in the correct directory as specified in the readme but when I try to launch it it says it's "NOT IN THE PROPER DIRECTORY". It does that both offline and online and when run as an administrator. I tried launching via Steam afterwards as well and it re-downloaded the original launcher.

Exclude the launcher and/or Steam Deathloop game folder from security software scans. May need to goto trainer settings and manually put the game path in.

I have only tested the "residium" item in the editor and it does not work. I run trainers from my desktop and I have excluded that folder from windows defender. I have unzipped the CH deathloop launcher and put that in the deathloop folder. That folder is also excluded from windows defender actions. As a "precaution", I have also completed disabled windows real time and cloud protection. I run steam in offline mode, open the CH trainer (in admin mode), then use the CH deathloop launcher (located in the steam deathloop folder), and finally activate the trainer at the main deathloop menu. I have a small amount of residium in the game, but the CH trainer/editor does not show this amount, rather it displays "??".

Try not activating the trainer until you are in a loaded game and have gone to the screen where that shows.

Thanks for your reply. I wanted to see if other features of the trainer were working for me, so I turned on "invincibility" and used the machete to slaughter several dozen NPCs. "Invincibility" does work and after this adventure, I checked the "residium" editor value and, lo and behold, it reflected my residium stash. Further, I was able to enter a new value which the game accepted.

TLDR: Trainer works when invoked under actual in-map conditions. Thanks for all your hard work.

Well, after my adventures with the pre 11/18/21 version of the trainers, all was well. I could play and did play the game for hours, using the trainer only to update residuum as needed. Then came the most recent trainer. When using this new trainer, the game frequently crashes. In fact, I'm unable to get thru even a single time slice (afternnon is what i've been trying to clear) of gameplay. Oh well. Just FYI unless others report this too.

Update: After a couple more crashes, I verified the integrity of game files (steam) & 3 files were compromised/missing or whatever. After steam downloaded these filed, the crashing has stopped. All those responsible have been sacked (apologies to monty python).
