Do any of the boxes located in the "Trainer Settings" need to be checked in order to permit the activation of the ingame overlay?

chances are the game doesn't like the overlay, you can try clicking the auto inject overlay option in trainer settings and see if it works or not

I alraedy tried that, nothing happened. I last played Humankind in early 2022 and was able to use the overlay. I don't see other people complaining about this, so why would I have this problem while others don't? I am using one mod, the "expansionist mod", but i used that last year without it interfering with the overlay. Is there anyway to use the editor without the overlay?

What does "the game doesn't like the overlay" even mean? Why would the game on my computer "not like the overlay" when other players don't seem to be having the same problem?

It could be related to your graphics card settings. You could have another app installed that also has an in-game overlay that is causing interference.

My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, AFAIK its settings are the same as they were last year when I played Humankind and was able to use the trainer with the overlay. What sort of settings would I look for.
I do have Avast One for security. Is the overlay a type of pop-up? If I'm using Aurora, would the security system treat the overlay as a pop-up being sent over the internet? Would it be better to download the trainer?

I tried using a downloaded trainer - no luck.
