Even though I have looked at certain solutions given, or procedure to apply, it does not work. Even with a secondary disk with the account as owner and also a disk where there is no "Read only: This only applies to files in folders" checked, it just doesn't work, always the same error .
I've tried to reproduce but I cannot. No matter if its just D:\ or D:\a or D:\a\b the trainer manager starts without a problem. We added the readonly check after we received error reports about trainer is unable to save settings file / update itself / Webview2 is unable to create/write to the cache folder because its readonly.
You are right, the folder is partly readonly (because a few files are marked as readonly) but this itself won't raise the readonly message. Only if the folder is really readonly it will do. It will also raise the readonly message if the folder is not readonly but the user account level the TM runs under doesn't have permission to write to it.
Can you try the latest version? It now prints the full path to the TM folder when its readonly and I'm curious if its really the TM and not a completely different folder.
