The better option would be, to implement the same Options from the Original Game.

would make it more easy.
A "Teleport to waypoint" wasn't possible back then, due to the game-mechanics. So I think, that option will not work in the Re-Reckoning either.

That's probably going to be hard to determine until we can figure out how modified the game was. That will be the case if they mostly just slapped a new coat of paint on it and made a few tweaks. Possibly might be the case if they made significant engine tweaks to get things to function. It isn't the original dev team, after all
