I wonder if SDE is causing it. If that was on and you activate the wall from too far away could it possibly screw with the scripting? I have issues with the time reset causing enemies not to attack, even after loading a previous save with the trainer off. Not the same but just goes to show conflicts arrise. I mean clearly some option is causing it, I would start with not using SDE at all when you reset and seeing if you can get past that part with it never being activated.
