There are a lot of reports showing that this option doesn't work. After more testing on my part and some other users on here. I can confirm that if you remove the Space Elevator after you unlock the next tier, you can set your inventory amounts just fine.

Hi, I am also having this issue.
Removing the Space Elevator worked fine for me for a long time.
But now Clicked Inventory Item is not working.
I saw someone suggesting that turning off all your power would help, this unfortunately did not fix the problem. Do you guys have any other ideas?
The trainer needs an update because the game got updated, stay tuned.
i have no suggestions. the option works 100% of the time for me. I, however, haven't played 200 hours into the game making everything you can build either, so I have no idea if it stops working or any other things.
if the option is useless, and not helping anyone, I am happy to remove it

I have tested it extensively since it was reported. The option works 90% of the time after removing SE (Space Elevator) to unlock the tiers needed. I have had some instances where it doesn't work at all even with the SE removed.
As for removing it, I am all for it if everyone can't accept that it works when it wants to. Its not a 100% useless option.
