I am having the same issue after last nights windows update. Worked last night, this morning same as the others are reporting. Tried everything...been working great until this recent OS update.

Please, could you tell me what are the names of the 2 new threats that you restored? So I can try checking myself. Thank you-

the KVA Shadowing Disabler program does nothing more than run the reg.exe tool (included with Windows) to set two registry keys to disable KVA Shadowing, nothing more. Why defender is flagging our program which just sends two registry change commands to the reg.exe program we have no idea. Moronic.

KVA Shadowing was Microsofts attempt to stop certain types of attacks where the kernel is being used..

The ironic thing here, is that Microsoft is giving signed driver access to companies to basically manipulate your OS kernel and do viral type things with it, with Easy Anti Cheat being one of the main contenders. Some bad person out there is going to figure out how to use this for evil, and 1000's of computers with EAC drivers are going to be able to be hijacked.

I think when you have to use a person's actual Operating System KERNEL, and manipulate it, to defeat VIDEO GAME CHEATS, then perhaps maybe you are taking it a bit far..

The solution to these problems has always been to put MULTIPLAYER GAME DATA on the SERVER, and to WALL OFF single player from multiplayer so that this sort of stuff isn't necessary.

These are video games, for pete's sakes..

I have no other suggestions. We've tested it, then tested again, then tested on other computers, with no problems. The NEW problem is that Defender is reporting the simple registry .exe's as possible malware or whatever. They are nothing of the sort.

I did the following steps:

Shut off ALL of the Windows Defender anti-virus checkmarks (Real-Time Protection, Cloud Delivered Protections, Automatic Sample Submission)
Then I downloaded the trainer
Then I unzipped it, then unzipped the .rar with the KVA stuff
Then I ran the KVA disabler
Then I rebooted.
Then I checked and re-Shut off ALL of the Windows Defender anti-virus checkmarks (Real-Time Protection, Cloud Delivered Protections, Automatic Sample Submission)
Then I ran the trainer.
Then I ran steam
Then I ran the game
Then the launcher comes up
I click PLAY
Then once the game gets to main menu, I click OK in the trainer popup, then press F1 to activate.
No crash, no EAC warning, everything is fine here.
Started a PRIVATE server with just me, and go in, and no damage occurs, and the wizard wand is fine.

Once done with the game, ran KVA reset, turn back on the antivirus stuff, then reboot again.

It something like caprootA something.. something... Sorry can't access my gaming system right now. Just do complete system scan after you activate the KVA shadowing disabler. Make sure your system clear, then activate the KVA shadowing disabler again. Now reboot and open windows defender to restore the what it so called new threats.

But maybe you want to try Caliber's solution first. I think you won't have any issue with Windows Defender if you deactivate it from the beginning.

Thanks Cal, Followed these instructions and all is well. Thanks again for your quick response. It was not the trainer but Windows Defender, not sure why it started after the update but disabling it works. I tried adding exclusions but that did not help.
