I found the implication of the survey interesting. Since I'm a lifetime member, the "included with game" really doesn't influence my decision as it might others, but knowing the game is fully supportive of CH does give me a bit more peace of mind using them without fearing a random ban in single player.
CH in large part fills the void left when DLC happened and cheat codes left. Anyone else remember printing pages of action replay/game genie codes to enter?
One thing the survey didn't ask:
Is the ability to use a trainer a major factor in why you continue to game on PC primarily? The answer is yes.

exactly that. it's weird to me to ask lifetime and lifetime plus members if they would be more likely to buy games if a code for a trainer is included in the purchase. specifically THOSE TWO GROUPS don't care at all, except if CH changes their business model and starts charging lifetime members for trainers.
i'm aware that the CH team is trying to find opinions about possible new business avenues, but i'm a bit disappointed in the survey, because i kinda misread the introduction. yes, they explicitly wrote that they are trying to improve relations with devs and publishers, but i feel that the relations with their customers might be a bit . . . strained? (if that's the right word)
this might go a bit off topic, but i don't really feel like a respected customer but more as a supplicant. someone asking for favors from someone who neither really likes me nor doesn't seem to have the time.
simply the process of posting on a games board for me as a below-2-stars-account-holder feels like i'm burdening or intruding. the second thing i see when clicking the "reply"-button is "YOU WILL BE PUNISHED" if i don't choose the last option. doesn't really feel great.
i would've hoped to have stuff concerning those topics to be part of the survey.

So, how exactly is our relationship with our customers "strained"? We have a humongous website with millions of members and a very small handful of staff. Yet we respond to every inquiry, have closed thousands and thousands of tickets through our support system with an average response time of 3 hours which is probably better than Apple with their 400 million person call center in India. We have to spell things out for some people with a more harsh tone because if not, we get a ton more support requests that could have been avoided if that person had taken a second to read our rules. Also, how exactly are we asking you for favors? By asking you to take part in an OPTIONAL survey? You pay for a service. We provide that service by about 100X what ANY other competitive site does when we don't have to. We could charge $70/year like our friends and put out less than 10 trainers a month. Instead we charge half that and put out 300. We give away free games, t-shirts, paypal cash and more to our customers every day. When was the last time I got ANYTHING free from Apple or Google that I spend thousands of dollars a month with? That would be never.
So, please do expound on how us offering up a survey, an optional one, which rewards you with free credits to taking IF YOU CHOOSE has somehow led to us treating you poorly as a customer as we would love the feedback.
but aren't you still asking the wrong people? though i'm pretty sure some high and mighty people on the steam forums would just start bashing the despicable cheaters, because that seems to be the popular opinion among the hard core crowd. among those that look down on people who ask for difficulty modes in games like dark souls.
You have no idea the reasoning behind what we are asking. It's simply a survey to gather information, which you didn't have to participate in if you didn't want to. We're going to add a CLOSE button to the banner at the top of the page for those that don't care to take the survey and/or see the banner as it's bothersome. We'll also be removing the last question for those that already have a lifetime account, I should have taken that into account when creating it.
