FlatOut 4: Total Insanity Message Board  

Is this game as good as Flatout Ultimate Carnage? Flatout 3 was horrible so I hope this one is better. (I don't even consider Flatout 3 an actual "Flatout" game since it was so bad.)

What does everyone think of Flatout 4? Do you recommend getting it? Or is it another garbage game like Flatout 3?

Any impressions on the game would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to decide if I should buy it.

I just bought Flatout 4: Total Insanity.
I have only played 1 map, because I am waiting for them to fix 1 bug (Rebinding Right Shift doesnt do anything, it still boosts only on Left Shift. I put in a support ticket to Strategy First today about it, and expect to hear from them next week).

I wont say the game is as good as FO1, 2, or UC (I mean, even Bugbear themselves cant make another game that good), but it IS the best 'clone' ever made (so far).
Reviewers say the cars feel 'light', but I have only 1 car so far, and it feels like the big honkin 60's caddy that I would expect in a FO game, without any upgrades.

The game so far (rememver, only 1 map played so far) is FUN. And, that has been missing from ANY arcade racer I have played, except The Crew, since Ultimate Carnage.

Some users cant get over how bad FO3 was, and because the publisher is the same (I believe the devs are different though, ones who made lots of racing and motorcycle and such type games), they think anything by them is going to be crap, but so far this isnt crap (to me).
Maybe it will get worse, but if so, Steam always has the refund policy:
Less than 2 hours of play
Less than a week after buying it
Means you will get a refund.

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it! I got the game, it's great! Do you know how to unlock tracks and drivers for single player modes? Everything is unlocked in multiplayer (except drivers), but not single player for some weird reason.
