I play without mods.
Start the game from the Chapter - Highway 17 and with the Coach turned on, try to get into a buggy - the game immediately crashes. I play on Windows 7 (x64) 😢
I attach the save file. Put it in the folder: Valve\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life 2 Update\hl2\save

It's the infinite health causing it to crash when in a buggy, turn it off before getting into the car and it will be fine. You can get out of buggy and turn it back on to get 999 health back turn off and get back into buggy. ONLY use the infinite health when on foot. This is the best work around I could come up with as it may not get 3 requests to get an update. May not be pretty but this should keep you going to the end of the game if you have to drive any more buggy's. Something about vehicles is messing up the memory alteration from the trainers infinite health option. I though it was due to scripted crane lift event, but it is the vehicle itself.
That is exactly what i'm doing, play it once a year.
