yes, the circumstances is that we do not have an infinite amount of time.. and this came has infinite number of patches and there is no apparent "finish date".
the circumstances is that Steam and it's delivery method is allowing people to post unfinished, broken, borked software FOR SALE on their distribution method.
If you kindly read the entire postings of this game on our forums from inception of the trainer, you will see that this title is patching at ridiculous rates, even from day one. In fact we even posted BEFORE that we might drop this title or put it off because of the ridiculous patching.
" would like to know as a subscriber because I really wanted a new trainer for this game and am bummed out that apparently that won't be happening for quite awhile."
We've had a trainer for this game since February 4. It's not like we didn't support this title for 6 months! And we had to COMPLETELY REWRITE THE TRAINER 3 times as the game completely changed the coding of it's engine, because ITS NOT COMPLETE AND THEY ARE STILL WRITING THE GAME..
"I must admit that several games I play recently have had support by cheat happens pulled."
Well likely you are purchasing EARLY RELEASE GAMES that are NOT FINISHED TITLES and are PATCHING OVER AND OVER.
"Can the decision be overturned?"
I am telling you WHY we are doing this, and the TYPES of games that this is going to be a problem for. It's insanity to rewrite entire game trainers, having to completely reverse the game again, and rewrite entirely new code from scratch on these titles, some of which have patched 20 and 30 times, over MONTHS, and still have no ETA or release date.
"How do I know before I choose to sub or after I sub what games will be dropped so I know whether to continue to sub?"
the subscription isn't for "game X", and there's no way we can tell users which games we can even train, which games become protected via VAC or other methods, which games change engines completely or move to 64 bit 2 years later, etc. What we CAN tell you is that, just like STEAM DOES, when you get involved with these EARLY RELEASE GAMES, then you aren't paying for COMPLETED TITLES, and you accept that they are broken, unfinished, and "in progress". Our trainers, ergo, are going to suffer from these same problems, and our trainer release schedule on these titles is simply going to be less OR removed completely.
"I just notice that this is happening more and more lately"
Maybe it's because 1/3 of released titles now on STEAM are UNFINISHED EARLY RELEASE GAMES. The developers are literally SKIPPING Q and A and, incredulously, are having USERS PAY to buy their games WHILE THEY CODE THEM, and using the USERS to actually discover and report problems. THE USERS ARE PAYING FOR THIS. I find it ludicrous.. but here we are..
"I am sure I don't understand what all goes into this but I would like to."
The final word is this.. we have done all we can to try and have our trainers work as long as possible, and for the most titles, and update the trainers for the most games as possible. This title, as well as others, we even made trainers that try to "update themselves". When someone posts that NONE of the options work on a trainer that we have had to update THREE TIMES from scratch, on an early release title that has been in that status for 6 MONTHS and there is NO ETA when this title will be finished, AND the title has been patching a ridiculous number of times.. THEN we simply are going to put titles like that ON HOLD until the game is finished. Some titles we completely retire outwright, especially if the trainer only gets 20 downloads or something..
Darkest Dungeon is NOT the only title we work on here at Cheat Happens, and certainly it isn't a FINISHED GAME either. We don't have unlimited time to work on this ONE title like the developers of the game do (who are ALREADY paid for a game THAT THEY DIDNT COMPLETE YET)..
I hope this clears this up further. Obviously we know that some users will be upset that a specific title is on hold, but I suggest that they use that energy to contact STEAM and let them know about your distaste of 6 months or more unfinished games still being sold on STEAM.. as well as contact the developers and ask them when they actually are going to finish the title that people are paying for.
Obviously if you hear that this title is out of Early Release and is completed, then let us know and we can re-look at it then. Hopefully at that point, they will have stopped UPDATING IT 100 times a month..
best,
Cal
