its nearly impossible to wear a ssd down .even with CONSTANT USE, it would take 2-3 YEARS

its the same scare with droid and ios devices: dont install a pagefile, it will ruin it... yes the life IS shortened, but the device will still outlive the storage.. or at least last a few yrs.. and in todays world... anything 3+ yrs old needs upgrading

a nice thing is .HDDSD . i use them... 4TB HDs with 16-64GB of SSd technology to cache 64 of the most recent data . if the ssd part fails, the hybrid drive disables it and continues as a regular HDD . that memory is being written to every time u use the drive . if it were so fragile, they would use it .

so hybrid drives tell me that a person cant over use a ssd drive . its virtually impossible unless you get a defective one

also once da3 is loaded, it barely touches my hard drive . so i see no reason why ppl are afraid it will kill SSDs

also you cant take a block out that .SSds use write leveling . so whatever free blocks you have, if something constantly wrote to just one file, the SSD moves that file around to "level" or avg the writes done.

but like i said.. this is all hype and fear tactics .

@DABhand - if you keep dispelling everything the tin foil hat industry is certain to suffer... please, think of the children.

That is the smartest thing I have ever heard anyone say about anything.

i see the value in ssd's, but as a professional photographer who has been 'digital' since 1997 i also know that the finite lifespans of solid state tend to bite you in the arse sooner than later, so even my new rig with titans is sticking with 6gb/s platter drives. they are...fast enough.
