Admittedly I do not know the details of this thousand page bill, but to me healthcare should be something available to everyone. (the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of etc.)
So I'm okay with the idea of paying taxes so that I can see a doctor as much as I am okay with paying taxes so that I can use a highway to get to work.
i agree. well said.
So Obamacare, or Universial Healthcare is now controlled by the Government and Constitutional in the USA. What are your thoughts?
Its hard to explain what it is simply because its so complicated so if you don't know anything about just look it up I'm sure there are a lot of articles about it.
I'm not a fan of big government, but I will give it the benefit of the doubt and see what happens before I ultimately agree or disagree. And just because other countries have universal healthcare does not mean it will or will not work for America.

Obamacare is actually a far cry from Universal Healthcare. In fact, Universal Healthcare is more what was sought, but The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) falls far short. A Universal Healthcare system would mean that our existing taxes (or additional ones if needed) would be used to fund healthcare for everyone in the country. The ACA utilizes an individual mandate to come close to this level, but it places a heavy burden on those who cannot afford health insurance. Certainly there will be subsidies set up for those who are in need, but it will still be a heavy burden for many that will not qualify for the subsidies. I am afraid that the compromises that were made to bring this act to fruition were ultimately just a bunch of "gimmies" to the insurance companies. If we would have gone with a single payer system (as the President favored) it would have eliminated most of the insurance companies as they exist today. Single payer would essentially make the government the insurance company, and our taxes the premiums. Insurance companies would still exist, but only to provide for elective procedures. Although, I am in large favor of healthcare reform, I do believe that the existing law falls far short of where we need to be. That being said, I am more in favor of improving the law than I am of scrapping it. No one should go bankrupt because of a freak instance in their health.

Very well said, thanks for clearing that up. I agree with you.
Yes, there are a lot of problems with a health care system in America (talking about pre-Obamacare) and yes, a lot of people were unable to survive due to just being unable to afford the simple things.
So yes, a reform was much needed, although I think Obama went to far with the individual mandates and full out government control of the system.
