Battlefield 3 Discussion
Trainer Tools and Resources
By your own logic, shouldn't you hate BF3 for requiring Origin and Battlelog?
Comparing Origin and EA to Steam and Valve is begging for a political analogy, but I don't have one, not any that can be repeated pleasantly, anyway. But the two are more capitalist vs. anarchist (just the closest I can get) than anything. EA would rather subsidize anyone who wants to sell products on Origin, Valve is indifferent and only wants to take their share to give developers, small and large, a viable venue to distribute their games.
So yeah, I went there. I'm planting that flag in the ground. If you support Origin more than Steam, you want to kill the videogame industry in a war of self-attrition.
Steam I don't really mind, its the secondary other DRMs that have cropped up that has outraged everything, like for Assassin's Creed, for instance, as well as other games from the same publisher. Steam at least functions while offline (and it goes offline every so often on its own), and has in the past offered decent prices. More recently, however, they have failed at producing pre-order discounts, perhaps because they believe they no longer need to compete with brick and mortar stores for business.
