Make a text file called rageconfig.cfg. Place that in the /base folder within your Rage install (whether STEAM or Retail).

Within that CFG file place these lines (you need to have 512MB - 2GB of VRAM on your viddy card)

    seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly2 "8192"
    seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly "8192"
    seta vt_pageimagesizeunique "8192"
    seta vt_pageimagesizevmtr "8192"
    seta image_preload "1"
    seta image_useCache "1"

Now, force v-sync in your nVidia or ATi control panel, and you're set.

Also, here's the switches I'm using via my shortcut (you can also place these in your STEAM version in the Launch Options area)

    +com_skipIntroVideo 1 +image_anisotropy 16 +image_usecompression 0 +m_smooth 0 +fc_maxcachememoryMB 1024

To utilize the maxcachememory option, you'll likely need to create the folders /id software/rage inside of your users/username/appdata/local folder

Just remember you could have an old Geforce 9800 GTX with 1GB on it, those settings would eventually fry it.

So its not for every graphic card..

    Would say Geforce 280+ or ATI5800 series+

Oh and Don't forget some tuts on ASM and defeating DMA

The graphic issues have been doing my head in as well
Constant CTD's, clipping and texture problems.
After searching through google I hit upon this:
    Link
    Seems like we're not alone....
I downloaded and installed the RAGE performance drivers through the link on that page and there is a vast improvement.
No more clipping and the textures have sorted themselves out.
I still suffer from a few CTD's but no where near as bad as it used to be.

Vista 64 with two Nvidea cards in SLI.....beautiful, but gets choppy on me now and then. I believe the game is in dire need of a patch. Before making too many adjustments, maybe we should wait for patch???
    It's all in the......whoops!

They've been working on this game long enough, you'd think they had time to test it out more thoroughly with ATi cards. I have an ATi Sapphire HD 4670 1 GB card and it handles games more graphically detailed than this on UH Settings......devs. fault wait for patches.

The Graphics card that I am currently using is a ATI Raedeon HD 5770. I also have 8GB RAM in my PC. Old processor Core 2 Duo

I might just end up waiitng for a Patch its starting to get a little frustrating to play with all these issues.

i imagine this has more to do with ur hardware than the game itself. recommended specs do state that a quad-core processor is preferred and i usually like to play it safe by taking into account the recommended specs while playing a game fiddling with its settings. and 5770 isn't a very powerful card to be honest. this is a very gorgeous game and obviously requires a really robust system to fully enjoy all that it has to offer. so i guess lowering certain settings could alter ur experience.

I wish developers would get their $hit together and start developing games with native multi-gpu support. I have two HD6990's in my rig and this game doesn't even make 1 of the 4 available gpu's sweat. There are so many multi-gpu players out there now, they need to start supporting it from the get-go... instead of a patch a few months later *cough* Crysis 2 *cough*. That game didn't work properly on multi-gpu systems until they came out with that Ultra High Res Patch.

Either way, it runs smoothly and the Catalyst RAGE perfomrmance drivers fixed many of the visual issues but I am still getting a bunch of issues with crashing when transitioning maps as well as the occasional freeze.
Hope the patch comes out soon to help remedy a bunch of these problems....

I guess we can at least take solace in the fact that it isn't as bad as the Dead Island release....

There was some issues reported in regards to systems using ATI cards, this is something that ATI are trying to rectify at the moment, some the fixes have solved some of the issues but not all, should be fixed with another driver update soon hopefully.

As for everyone else I think that we will just have to wait for a patch to try and fix a Frack-up that should have been fixed before release day.

I am getting tearing on the outer edges and in some cases its not even rendering the image until you look at it.
