Bumping this one up so we can keep what people think of the game in one spot.

    My thoughts?

    1. This is not the same game as DAO.
    2. Combat is much faster (a little too fast)
    3. Mages totally kick ass now
    4. The Story is much more tragic
    5. The music is superb in places
    6. It's about 2/5ths the length of DAO
    7. It has serious potential in the mod community
    8. I can't help but love Merril :P

Im general, it is great story telling, and fun to play. I miss the wide open world of Ferelden as compared to the repetative walls of Kirkwald

I agree completely with Rick_Terminal, all I have to add is that I can't help but feel like I'm playing a console game ported over to pc as a second thought.

    On another note;

DaBhand, would you please be kind enough to limit your off topic debates to a thread about the topic you've chosen to debate.

I'm one of the folks that happily pay for the use of this great site and would rather not sift through all the off topic posts to get to the opinions I value.

Ok, the story was tame compared to Dao but it does give hints to the continuation of the overall DragonAge world eg Flemeth reappearing and the division worsening between factions, As for the combat it was improved in almost every way except its very fast paced no finishers and i wish ther would improve the tactics section even if its only adding a few more slot. Graphics wer awesome tho the camera could cause irritation during combat and after killing all those bandits the population of Kirkwall must have been halved it needed more maps.
If they can make a decent story out of any DLC and a new follow up I will continue playing the franchise.

The more i play DA2 the more i like it.
Yes,there are minor inconviences(in my opinion VERY MINOR)
I think the story is great,i like the fact it is not a sequal, but, takes place during the same time as DAO.

And,you get little hints and mentions of "the hero of fereldan and the gray wardens"
Even "king allister" is mentioned, which i think is cool.
All in all i think it's a great game, and it's a breath of fresh air for me.

I'm going to enjoy playing through the rest of this game, and iam looking forward to playing as a mage the next time through.

I just started a 2nd playthrough and somehow can't bring myself to keep playing. All the options are minor at best and they always lead to the same result. Admittedly, DA Origins is also linear, but it hides that fact well unlike DA2. Your companions will always do bat crazy / same stuff no what what you say, and with no regard to relationship path (rival/friend). The biggest decisions for each act are the same no matter what. Act 2 always end up with you killing the Arishok. Act 3 ends with you killing both first enchanter and meredith. If that's the case, why bother even letting us choose which side to help? Why not just script in the mage path or templar path just like all those family deaths?

I can't agree more. I find it really hard to keep playing since mostly everything is the same.

missing some much need tactical camera views, should be more zoomed out in some cases. also bit of a pain not being able to fit armour/robes to you companions, everything you collect is restricted to Hawk only.
