Regarding the Console Cheating Guide, Learn how to get max skills and per....

I was wondering if anyone knew how to max out their stats without being locked in the level up screen when the player levels up. Whenever I cheat my stats and I happen to level up, I get the level up screen but cannot do anything because my stats are already maxed. I cannot get the window to go away and cannot continue further if I max out my stats.

If the answer is to only increase a few stats I can do that, but do I have to worry about being locked later in the game if I choose to do so?

OK, I am guessing you are just talking about SPECIAL, because that will happen (from my experience) only with that, because you have more SPECIAL points than levels available to use for that stat. If you can load a working save that you want and can use, do this:

Firstly, be sure you are completely done with Doc Mitchell and have used Vit-o-matic Vigor Tester and are ready to leave his place. Now, look your SPECIAL screen and see how many *total* points you need between the seven SPECIAL to get them maxed. IOWs, if you had all of them at level 5, the max is level 10, and there are seven of them, you need 35 total points to max them out, no more. Open the command console and type this (no quotes)"addspecialpoints **" Note the space between the "s" and the "**". The double asterisk meaning the actual points you only need. Then you should be able to max them out without having extra points and being locked in that screen.

Also, if you are wanting to get the achievements, be sure to save the game once you got it where you want it, close Vegas and Steam, then start both again. You cannot get achievements after using the console in the same session of Vegas.

Once you are done, you no longer have to worry about being locked in that screen as long as you don't use the perk "Intense Training" because after you max this out, you no longer need to use it, as that perk is for increasing your SPECIAL. If you use it again, you'll get locked again.

I think I found out how to do it. The perk "Intense Training" allows for up to 10 additional special points. So I got all the way up to level 10, and when I was adding my final perk, I used the trainer to add points until the points were reduced to 0 and I had maximum special points.

i went a little crazy in my game, using the xp and ap cheats to max out most of my stats and special skills.

Why not just use the console command instead of wasting perks on SPECIAL? If I am reading you correctly, you used Intense Training every time you earned a perk??

I realized that after I had used them on SPECIAL. So what did I do you ask? I used console commands to add all the other perks I wanted :P

Hell, you may as well have created a batch file to make everything at once, saving lots of typing. If you want to give yourself ton of health, strength, etc, you can use the "setav" command and it sticks in the save for the rest of the game. Keep in mind though, that you have to exit Vegas ans Steam and restart them, or you don't get achievements since if you use the console, it prevents it in the same session. But if you reload, you will get them even if you altered your stats.
