Every time I run any trainer for any game I've ever tried the trainer crashes my game, regardless of the game I try. I confirmed that the games do work without the trainer. When I run the trainer and the game, shortly into it windows brings up a general "The problem has caused the program to stop working" error. From what I understand it is WindowsLIVE! that is causing this. How do I disable WindowsLIVE! outright?

I don't know if that helps... Link. Have a look at trainer troubleshooting too Link. Disable antivirus, log in as admin (Win Vista/7), try to run the game under WinXp compatibility, match game version and trainer version etc..

start your task manager and find windows live on the processes tab, then click end process.
if you have windows live set to run every time you start up, you can disable it from your startup menu via Start > Run > msconfig.
if you are using windows 7 or vista and want to change your start up programs, just type msconfig into your program search.
if you try this and the game still crashes with the trainer, /trainer_troubleshooting.asp>click here and run through the troubleshooting guide.
