Ugh...

Skype does not block contacts that are not on your friends list. Skype is full of spambots that send out random ****. In the space of 20 minutes, I got three different bots sending me things, one of them being that my Windows needs to be updated. No one from my list was online at that time.

This scam is called Phishing, and I really thought we were past this. A random user looks for another random user and sends them to a site designed to look like a homepage. A user puts their information in, and instead of logging in, it sends it to someone, and that someone now has your information.

Let me say this again. Skype is not friend-secure. Anyone at any time can send you a message. You don't have to accept them as a contact.

I don't know. I left 2 generic messages through skype IM and left the window open for like an hour. Nothing came through my end. He said you sent out fake warnings and a link to a site that hijacks your browser to install rouge software.

I'm having some problems with ADs coming up on all the pages. It wasn't like this before. maybe a bug or something. Anybody can help?

A combination of Spywareblaster's killbits and Spybot S&D's Immunization & HOSTS servers have pretty much 404'd a whole LOT of ad servers and malware servers for me.

And used in conjunction with the AdBlock extension for Firefox (with the appropriate lists, mind you), have kept me safe.

Of course, not being an idiot is the bigger part of the battle.

It almost certainly will. I've used it time and time again, and it never misses a piece of adware.
