You (Dark Dragon) are talking about the original DA, not the awakening expansion Still - I think I must have done exactly the same as you with the original.
It's quite a shame that this highlights what is lacking in the sequel. It was quite good when my "hubby" (Alister) showed up, and introduced himself as such - so I thought a lot of the story would have been carried from the first game. Unfortunately that is about it so this turns in to a rather large "side mission" pack, with no ability to romance or properly interact with characters outside the keep (well, you sort of can by clicking on various objects). In fact, that probably detracted most from the experience for me, as I remember feeling very annoyed that you couldn't get in a sordid lesbian love affair with... oh never mind!!!
A lot of the moral decisions seem a lot less clear cut - but this unfortunately made the "Hero of Feralden" look like she didn't know what she was doing. It's a shame some of the replay value will be in making sure certain things don't come to pass.
(Sort of spoilers - you've been warned)
Despite all this, I still enjoyed it though. The story is reasonable enough (in my opinion anyway), and the ending? Well, it ranks as one of the grossest in my book. But also as the most confusing - I thought everyone 'somewhere' had died, then it turns out they had not. Eh?! Can't say too much else, sorry!
Wish there was a longer story though... A lot of the side quests feel extremely auxiliary to the story.
8/10 - nowhere near perfect, but I was happy with what £20 got me.

I agree with this. I would have liked to interact with my new companions more.
