I decided to spread out my forces along a long front from Erfurt to Auma, straddling the Saal River.
Based on his past behavior, I figured that my opponent would decide to strike from more than one direction.
But, nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. He's coming almost entirely from Gotha.
Which means I need to haul ass from the East side of the Saal and have my forces near Erfurt delay and allow me to deploy in depth around Weimar and the Ilm River.
Otherwise, he'll cut off my retreat to Halle and separate my Prussian army from the Russian force coming to reinforce me and I'll have to withdraw to Leipzig and then the small Russian army will be utterly overwhelmed.
In the end they will lay their freedom at our feet and say to us, 'Make us your slaves, but feed us.'

I'm gonna go cry now.
And complain like a child about Germans building their cities in valleys so that if you want to defend the city you have to do so a mile in front of it, or give it up and stand a mile behind it.
In the end they will lay their freedom at our feet and say to us, 'Make us your slaves, but feed us.'
