Mass Effect 2 has added alot of aspects to the gameplay and in some ways changed it when compared to part 1. Personally, I think some of the additions and changes are for the better and some of them not so much. I've only played a little bit of ME2 so far, but I like it alot. I loved ME1 and ME2 seems like it's going to be just as enjoyable. What do YOU ((whoever is reading this)) think though? Is ME1 better than ME2 or is ME2 better than ME1 or are they equal? Share your thoughts on the matter.

Mass Effect 2, hands down. Don't get me wrong, ME1 was the best game I'd ever played - not to mention the only time I've ever completed a game over a dozen times and still want to go back for more - and it was an awesome start to set up the story and Universe, but I love the improvements in ME2 way too much.

I must say though, I don't like the over-simplified RPG elements of ME2 (ME1 was simple, but this takes the biscuit), and the story feels very... short. It's an amazing story, yeah, but it feels like there's only 3 or 4 actual story missions and the 'dossier' missions, along with the loyalty missions, are out of place and serve only to pad the game out. Having said that, I still immensely enjoy them.

ME2 suffers from some questionable decisions though, such as "let's bring a Geth aboard and store him in the AI core.".... Why in the AI core of all places?!

"Remember the good old days when you could just slap Omni-Gel on everything?" - Shepard, ME2

"Not right now. Trying to determine how Scale Itch got aboard. Sexually transmitted disease carried only by Varren..... Implications unpleasant." - Mordin, ME2

gameplay wis, i would have to say ME2 because of the improvement in graphics, combat system, traveling methods and so on....

but in terms of the story, it feels a lot shorter than ME1. still good story but just not quite enough. kinda feels like i was left hanging....

and was kinda disappointed when i got legion cause i was fully expecting someone like HK-47. (for those who donno who HK-47 is, play knights of the old republic)

the storyline is shorter in ME2

and one thing i liked that was dropped in ME2
was that armored car ( can't remember the name ) you could drive around the planets

    I prefer ME2 over ME1

Even with the story being short it is very enjoyable.
The side-missions are not as repetative as in the first game and the mako is gone, both good things. The facilities (referring to the ones used in sidemissions) in ME2 were also a lot more varied than in ME1, the ones in ME1 were all the same, so much that I could navigate them with my eyes closed.

One thing I don't like in ME2 is the new armor and weapons system, it's too small, too few armors and too few weapons. I also wished that the alternative armor for your squadmates actually gave them different armor instead of a paintjob.
Also the blood dragon armor and collectors armor should have had removable helmets.

I have played ME2 twice now (mostly due work taking my playtime, else that coutner would be higher) and I still want to play it more. Too bad I only had 2 ME1 endgame saves for the pc version, cause I would like to see how some things would be with even different combo's of choices, like Wrex, I let him live in both me ME1 saves, but I wonder what Tuchanka would be like with him dead :P (and don't go spoil that for me now, I might make a save with him dead :P)
