Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Discussion
I've done searches on Google but came up with nothing.
Now I know you can download the patches through STEAM, but I can't because I have only got Dial-Up about 250bytes p/sec, and I can't download it on my gaming PC, So I can only download it when I am in the nearest town (21 Miles away) and I don't have STEAM on my laptop. So is there any direct link to a patch download?
please note when making a post:
I do have steam.
I do have a legitimate copy of the game.

I have it installed on my "Gaming PC" and registered it, it took a while, but it did it, now I obviously can't "Legally" install it on my laptop and register it on STEAM twice, so now I can't download the patch through steam which means I can't patch the game on the gaming PC, do understand me now? good.
So how do I get the Patches?
Sadly though, the only way to get patches are from Steam...
Neither Steam or Infinity Ward release patches to public to ohter sources, but only on Steam.
Therefore, you gotta get patchs through steam and on online.

Yeah... that's the problem though... I can't use my internet connection at home. So let me get this straight, I can NEVER patch my game unless I have decent internet access?
That is assuming that everybody in the WHOLE WORLD has something other than dial-up! That's ridiculous. I understand that this is a mainly online game, but it DOES have a single player aspect, now that shouldn't require internet access.
It is true that only one SteamID can use a specific "registration" key online.
However, your SteamID is not tied to your local computer, it is linked with your Steam Account. You can install and play any game on your Steam Account on any computer(s).
You will need an internet connection to download and update the game on each computer.
After the game is installed and updated on the desired computer:
1.Set the "Remember my password" box
2.Log into your Steam Account
3.Do not log out
3a.Disconnect from the Internet
3b.Exit and Restart Steam
A message should pop up after a few moments saying "Cannot connect to the Steam servers. Would you like to start in Offline Mode?" or something similar.
Select Yes to start steam in Offline Mode, and play.
