Empire: Total War Message Board  

Hey Everybody,

The new "hot fix" patch that Steam put out today is not showing up in my Steam Client Updates List, but I must have gotten it because my Trainer stopped working like all of yours. How did you all find out that Steam put out a "hot fix" and will the game still be version 1.3.1 because that is what my game is saying, and like I said there is no 7-11-09 update in my Steam Update list?? I completely redownloaded the trainer and the game thinking there was a problem since nothing was showing up in my update list. Besides the Trainer not working, how do I know if I got the new "hot fix" or not??

After the update, When I load the game up with the trainer it crashes right after I click continue campaign.

Minor hot-fixes normally don't show up on the Steam update history. Normally you will become aware that an update has been downloaded or is downloading when a steam pop-up appears on the bottom right corner of your screen saying that Empire Total War or any other game name, has finished downloading.

To know if you have the new hot-fix or not in this case is simple, check that the game Empire Total War's update properties is set to 'always keep this game up to date' and double click the game icon to play it, if it plays then you've got the hot-fix patch if it starts downloading an update than you don't.

yeah.. Hate the STEAM automatic update, is there any way to disable it?

Easy, just go into game properties and look in the update tab and select 'Do not automatically update this game' in the scroll down menu

For me, it still updates anyway. I am 100% sure that I had do not update on.

i think running steam in offline mode is supposed to fix the issue as well...

...Put it on offline mode yesterday after this conundrum.

I had mine in offline mode, and the game would not start. It just hung up 2 times so, I started online, but made sure auto update was off, and it still updated. Very frustrating for me. As much as I love games, I just don't have as much time as I would like, playing them.(Most of the reason I cheat) This game irks me, that I pay for a DVD copy, but have to be online to play everytime. For whatever reason, Steam Offline only works after you have been online. While I do use Steam to get games sometimes, I find this offensive that I buy a hard copy, but still need to be connected, that it updates, even when requested that it not, and that they removed console cheats. If I buy a game, I don't have to cheat, I just want the option to cheat, if I choose.
