    Hi

I will give you a small tutorial about how to change the values for the weapons and the artillery.

first open patch.pack by using the packfilemanager you can find here: Link

then go to the directory "db" and once there find the "Projectiles_table" and open the file "projectiles".

There you can find the range, damage, velocity, etc.
all these you can change by just changing the values.

for example the "musket_breech_loader" is the weapon used by several reconnaisance units as "ferguson riflemen" and "green jackets".

this rifle has a range of 125, wich you can still change to a higer value. Afterward you will have to go to the "unit_stats_land_tables" to find for example, your own line infantry. For Britain this is "euro_line_infantry_britain", go to the column with the header "Projectile IDRef", its just before the "ammo" column. there you will have to replace the "musket_flintlock" with "musket_breech_loader". you can do this for any specific unit of your faction. This makes sure no other faction can have the same advantage of this rifle.

You can do this for (as britain), the highlanders, the blackwatch, cold stream guards, ferguson riflemen, green jackets,.......

with the artillery, theres no much difference. Only make to only change the values of the artillery you use most. For me that would be 24 lbs howitzers, i changed the range to 1000, the damage from 36 to 250. you can also alter the amount of guns in a battery. this is done in the unit_stats_land_table.

    hope its usefull

    greetz

p.s: be sure to backup those altered files, because the patches causes the values to be reset to the originals.

A BIG UP to you NoX

that explains why after spending an hour changing values, nothing happened, because I was in the main.pack.

As soon as steam finishes updating, you know what I'm gonna be doing

I did have a couple of small problems at first, like spelling it "breach" instead of "breech" as I see you have done in your post , and having a "-" instead of a "_".
I even had it down as ".musket_breech_loader", and that period at the start prevented my units from firing.
So go back and check everything that you may have changed, starting with your spelling, it should read "musket_breech_loader", and if you cant see anything obvious, then replace your modded file with your original backed up file (you did backup your original file first), and start over.
