Well, after all the insane trials & tribulations of acquiring the Operation: Anchorage addition to my game (what IS a tribulation anyway???), I finally got my hazard suit on and entered the "simulation pod" and wound up near a frozen mountain top watching the guy ahead of me climb up the cliff before me. Since then I've not been able to climb the cliff after him and after moving just a few feet the game freezes up (how appropriate!).

Does anyone have cheats, info, walkthroughs, etc for this addition to the game? After all I went through to get it I sure hope it works!

You don't climb the cliff, you're supposed to turn to the right and follow the cliff wall, where you'll soon come up on a Chinese soldier looking out while on a concrete ledge. I usually use a vats "Volley" and take him out with the pistol (He goes down easy, like a good Dr. Pepper ).

There's some excellent walkthroughs on gamefaqs.com, but it's so linear that you'll only need a walkthrough for getting all 10 intelligence pieces, and even then it's only worthwhile if you have a mod improving the Covert Ops perk.

    Hope that helped.

And you can't search the corpses, they disappear (It's a VR sim after all), so you need to pick up weapons that are glowing red, as even if they drop their weapon, the Chinese weapons disappear, along with allies weapons when they die.

One tip, when you see the parachuter get killed, he'll drop an acquirable Gauss Rifle. Search the area around there, it's usually right below him, but it may get caught in the rocks to the side during your skirmish with the Chinese.

I realized you don't climb the cliff and all, but as I ventured along the cliff wall I find an opening, go in and engage, and the game freezes up time after time. I just got sick of it and removed it from my game. Maybe it's a Vista problem - wouldn't be the first!

I doubt it's Vista. I run Vista Home Premium 32-bit and it's fine.

Have you tried moving the applicable .BSA file(s) and .ESM to the data folder and not logging into Live to play?

It IS strange that it crashes though.

All the OA-related files are in my data directory. The only file associated with the mod that shows up as loadable in the "Data Files" presented in the FalloutLauncher is the Anchorage.esm file, which I check and load. I don't use Live when I play. For the most part Fallout3 has worked reasonably well, with a few nasty glitches here and there. I really don't understand what's wrong with OA. And while "The Pits" looks good in the trailer, will I face the same issues as I have with OA???

    This IS strange.

Are you making sure to run the game as administrator? I don't know if that would help, but I never run the game without administrator privileges.

I've had a couple crashes with The Pitt, but nothing game-breaking. Just an annoyance when I forget to manually save after picking up a bundle of ingots.

Are you using any mods? Or the Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM)?

I find that some mods that conflict can crash the game at specific points as well as in random spots.

Also, make sure Fallout 3.esm is the VERY FIRST THING TO LOAD in Fallout Mod Manager, followed by Anchorage.ESM, then any mod ESM files, then the plugin files, and reference the readmes for any specific load order tips.

If you're not using any mods, then I don't know how to help.

    I hope this helped.
