This movie is going to suck and yes I'm a fan of DBZ, so I'm going to watch it. But I still expect it to suck. haha

Oh and the reason half the characters aren't in it is because it is DragonBall, not DBZ. The main difference is instead of Goku being a little child he's like 16-20. This is back when Bulma and Goku traveled looking for the Dragonballs while fighting King Piccolo.

And it's likely that if this film makes a lot of hits (and not to mention money) they might make a sequel featuring DBZ.But that remains to be seen.

They only used Dragonball "names" and put them in a Japanes Power Rangers movie.
