It does still crash, though that may be in part because the game is buggy as can be.
There IS a way to get the trainer to work, but that depends on how much patience you have. Any time you go to the overview map screen from anywhere in the game, the trainer crashes the game. However, you can START the trainer from there and use the money cheat if you want.
Just like while on a mission, you can actually activate the trainer while on a mission, activate the desired options, and beat the mission. Once you win, save the game.
If you try to go to the map screen again, it will crash. So you have to reload the game from the mission end and go from there.
Kinda annoying, but if you're dead-set on using the trainer, that's the only way to use it if it crashes your game.

I still cant get the trainer to work with vista. If i press F1 nothing happens. If I press F1 with the game not running it (correctly) says game not found. even if I tab to the trainer and hit F1 nothing. I just upgraded the game to .001 version and got that version of the trainer. Same problem. Is this a Vista thing or am I missing something?

A Vista thing, I guess. I have XP, and doing what I said above works for me. =/

any chance we'll see a working trainer for vista ultimate x64 any time?
The trainer still does`nt work on my vista32bit edition. Any help?
Edit: Running the trainer in compatibility mode and giving it admin rights helped. I also remapped the keys, but when I try to exit a map with the options activated the game crashes.

The crashing seems to be related to the trainer activation, and not the trainer possibilities (at least, for me), since my men can still have tons of health/ap/breath/morale when on the traveling map... only way for me to use the trainer, is to run the game, go into combat maps, activate the trainer and options, and as soon as I'm done with combat, save the game and exit it (since it will crash in all cases if I go to traveling map) and close trainer, load the game and exit from combat map to traveling map - its quite a job to just use a few trainer options :/
Any fix to the activation process in the trainer would be greatly appriciated, since this game is awesome

its easy to cheat money. open Hired Guns\basis\campaigns\JAZZ\economy.lua with notepad in the function named "getIncome()" change "addMoney(data.income)" and "addMoney(data.bonus)" with "addMoney(data.income+100000)" and "addMoney(data.bonus+100000)" simply add +10000 start the game and advance 1 day.
