1) campaigns are WAY TO SHORT. should be closer to 15 missions for the allies and soviets.
2) empire, yea so a 3rd side was nice but i would of rather seen what they did in RA2. 2 sides with multiple versions in multiplayer each with different special units.
3) no 8 player maps? are you f'ing kidding me?
4) game pretty much forces you to go amphibious even if you don't want to. and since all the best tanks are only ground your forced to move an MCV across water or you can just use air.
I do enjoy playing it a lot. but there are a lot of cons. hopefully they'll get a good expansion pack out soon or someone will mod the hell out of the game.
Also we need to get some 8 player maps or ground only maps.
no nukes? yeah i can understand that. no einstien, no theory of relativity and all that other good stuff, yeah? but if they removed einstien from history, then why do the allies still have the chronoshere, mirage tank, and prism towers (yeah i know, they are called something else, but they have the exact same functionality)
naval ships that walk on land huh? nothing at all to do with the cybran destroyers in supreme commander. nope nothing at all. (so much for originality)
There is no mention of Yuri, true, but his technology shows up, the Psionic Decimator for the Rising Sun Faction.
The Einstein issue leaves a lot of unanswered questions, I agree. You also have to remember though, it isn't like they went back in time and killed him when he was a baby or something... He might have created that technology much earlier on, prior to the press conference where he was wiped from existence. This however opens a whole new series of debate... was he wiped from the space-time continuum completely? or partially?
The concept of Amphibious warfare is nothing new so, the fact that it was in Supreme Commander, isn't enough for me to blow the unoriginal whistle on this game...
To extend on that, the goal of the developers was to break players of the CnC series, from the mold that has existed now for some time in the series, the concept that, as long as you keep your back to the water, you are safe... I think RA3 definitely put the fear into players to create a 360 degree defense, and made the combat more in sync with most modern tactics, again, such as Amphibious assault.
as for einstien.. no nukes remember? which means they would have had to "remove" him before the first red alert, as but the allies and soviets had nukes then. (but if that is so, then where is hitler? the whole premise behind the first red alert was einstien "removing" hitler...) the chronoshere was developed in the first red alert while the mirage tank and prism towers were invented in ra2...gah ... see this is what happens when you mess with the timestream
and amphibious warfare was already there in spades in ra2. transports that were fast, had 12 "slots" and could load\unload quickly. apocalypse tanks and mcv's took up 6 slots each, normal tanks, artillery units, and apc's took up 4 slots each, and infantry only needed 1 slot each. you could have a whole army, complete with aa coverage and artillery deployed on an enemy beach in a matter of seconds. so the water provided no defense there, if anything it was an open entrance that was a pain to defend, depending on how much of the beach was near your base.
it just feels, to me, that the walking naval ships is a "shortcut" for game balance.
i'm not normally this critical of a game, but i am sentimental of cnc, especially the red alert series, so i expected better than this. as a game it's good, some of the concepts show promise, but its potential isn't realized. it just feels to "thrown together", like they were in the middle of a great "brainstorming" meeting and just stopped short, without bothering to finish "fleshing out" the ideas they had.
there are other things that irk me about the game, but i'll bite my tongue. its all to easy for a discussion like this to get ugly.
if you like the game, good. go play it and enjoy. get your money's worth from it, or more if you can.
i just wanted to throw my 2 cents in, but i guess i got carried away.. so, um... any chance i can get change back? lol

I really wish the campaigns could of been better but so be it.
C&C has always had a good modding base as well. so hopefully we'll get some good mods out and lots of new (hopefully land only) maps.
And someone needs to enable 8 player skirmish dammit.
