How do i get the winter to stop so that i can farm

You have to obey your Quests log religiously in this mission. Winter will not end until you've met all of the villages' many requests for help.... So, you'll have to rely on hunters for your food supply for most of the mission. Luckily there's several herds nearby, if you explore a bit. It's the most annoying mission in the game, weather-wise.
