I was just fiddling around with the save games and found out how to edit them.
In the save folder you need to find the current map file and rename it to zip and extract. Then open CurrentMap/entity_data/ent.xml and look in the section. You can then change the number of each item (Count="*", Damage of weapons (Damage) and armour (Armour, strangely enough. Note it is 10x higher so a 244 would be 24.4 armour) also further down you can edit hp/mp/gold/xp/etc.
I was motivated to get more ammo for the new ranged weapon from musin's place, also beefed up the damage, 20000 in one hit
